We're at Samsung and AT&T's event in New York City where the Samsung Infuse 4G -- that's the monster 4.5-inch Android smartphone -- has finally been given a release date and price. You can pick one up starting May 15 for $199 on contract.
The Infuse 4G, as you'll recall, has that aforementioned 4.5-inch touchscreen -- the largest on something that's considered a smartphone and not a tablet. But it's a mere 8.9mm thick. And that large display is Super AMOLED Plus to boot, same as what we're very much enjoying on the Samsung Droid Charge. It's rocking Android 2.2 Froyo, so let's hope we see a Gingerbread update in the near future.
It's also got an 8MP camera on the back (with 720p video recording), and a 1.3MP shooter up front, with a single-core 1.2GHz processor to power it all.
As of that's not special enough, the Infuse will come with a special edition of Angry Birds, and Samsung's throwing in a $25 credit for its Media Hub download service.
Full press release is after the break.
